Do you like to download any video from
YouTube,
Myspace,
iFilm,
Metacafe, and other popular
video portals?
Simply copy and paste here the link of the video page and you will get a
direct link to download any video! 25.01.2008: Download from Youtube, Myspace, and Metacafe is working again!
Note: Rename file get_video to any name with the extension
.flv (example: video.flv). If you don't have a FLV player, you can download it from here (freeware).
You can also simply try to rename your file with .avi extension (video.avi) and watch it using
your favorite video player, but this trick is not 100% reliable (some videos may not play).
How to download a video from YouTube (and other supported video sites)
1) Enter the YouTube Video URL (if the video is embedded in another site and you don't know the URL, click "YouTube" on the lower right corner of the video window)
2) Click "Download"
3) Enter file name with the extention ".*flv" (e.g. coolvideo.flv) and save
FLV player
All videos in Youtube, Myspace and similar video portals are in FLV (Flash Video) format. You can't play these
videos in Windows Media Player or other popular players. You need to have a special FLV player. It can be downloaded for free (as freeware) from
here. There you will also find a freeware application to convert FLV files to popular video formats (mpeg, avi, mov...).
Another (manual) method
Go to YouTube.com and find a clip you like. Every video page on YouTube has a little EMBED box that allows you copy code and post YouTube video clips on your website. We are going to take advantage of this.
Copy the code and paste it into a text edit program like Notepad . The code will look something like this:
You are looking for the URL of the video file. In the example above that would be:
http://www.youtube.com/v/-oNQXLNMh0c.
Copy this URL and paste it into a new web browser window and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
The YouTube clip should load your web browser as a full screen clip. Press "Play" and wait for the video to load.
Now take a closer look at the URL. It's different than what you pasted in there. It's a lot longer right? It should look something like this:http://www.youtube.com/p.swf?video_id=
-oNQXLNMh0c&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//sjl-static5.sjl.youtube.com/vi/-oNQXLNMh0c/2.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskJaNd08X90swYCiZMZTzBdb
The next step is to change the piece of code that says "p.swf" to "get_video". So the example above should look like this after the change:
http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=-oNQXLNMh0c&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//sjl-static5.sjl.youtube.com/vi/-oNQXLNMh0c/2.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskJaNd08X90swYCiZMZTzBdb
Press Enter and your video will start to download.
The tool installed on this page makes all these manipulations automatically :)
